The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) is a world-renowned evidence-based social skills program for adolescents and adults with autism, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and any other social challenges. PEERS® focuses on actionable skills that participants can use in real-life social situations.

What is PEERS®?

What does the 16-week program cover?

Participants will develop skills in:

  • Initiating and holding two-way conversations

  • Understanding humour and its appropriate use

  • Forming and maintaining friendships

  • Handling direct and indirect bullying

  • Managing arguments & disagreements

  • Dealing with rejection

  • Organising get-togethers with friends

  • Dating skills (adults only)

  • Strategies for handling sexual matters (adults only)

DELIVERED ONLINE AND IN PERSON:
This program is delivered through a hybrid model, allowing individuals to engage and develop skills in a comfortable setting, with the option to attend sessions online or in person.

Studies have shown the PEERS® program has been very effective in:

  • Increasing self-esteem and communication confidence 

  • Building friendships and relationships

The Role of the Social Coach:

A ‘social coach’ can be a parent, support worker or adult sibling of the participant. The social coach attends the group each week to learn strategies to support the teen or young adult in effectively implementing these skills. 


PEERS® program cost:
The cost of our 16-week PEERS® Program is $270 per week ($90 per hour), per group. The participant and social coaching group will be run at the same time with separate clinicians in individual breakout rooms.

This Program is inclusive of:

  • 90-minute social skills group

  • 90-minute training for the allocated social coach

  • Resources provided to support participant and social coach

  • Weekly homework tasks to build and develop skills between sessions

PEERS® is NDIS Supported

The NDIS supports individuals with social and emotional difficulties, decision making powers over the support services they receive. PEERS® can help participants meet their social, emotional and behavioural goals. These goals often will align with the NDIS plan goals. The PEERS® program can enable participants and their family’s capacity building in the following areas:

  • Improved Relationships

  • Improved Daily Living Skills​

We can accept clients who have self-managed and plan-managed NDIS packages. We cannot accept NDIA-managed plans. For more information, visit www.ndis.gov.au
